ran(3F)
ran - pseudo random number generator
As shipped in IRIX 6.5. First release of IRIX 6.5.
NAME ran - pseudo random number generator SYNOPSIS integer iseed real *4 ran, x x = ran(iseed) DESCRIPTION ran generates successive pseudo-random numbers in the range from 0 to 1. ran uses its integer argument calculate the return value. The argument is modified by ran so that successive invocations of ran with the same integer variable will yield different values. It is not recommended to invoke ran with a constant since the storage area holding the constant will be modified. NOTES Please note that ran is implemented as a library function, not an intrinsic.
