ns-httpd(1M)
ns-httpd - Netscape Communications and Commerce Servers
As shipped in IRIX 6.5. First release of IRIX 6.5.
NAME ns-httpd - Netscape Communications and Commerce Servers SYNOPSIS ns-httpd -d config-directory DESCRIPTION The config-directory argument tells the server the location of the server configuration files. The ns-httpd command should never be invoked from the shell. Both the Netscape Communications and the Netscape Commerce servers have the same process name for their servers. Once the servers have been installed they will attempt to autoconfigure themselves upon startup. The installation process pre-configures the server on your system with the user "admin" as the administration user and no administration password. You should assign an administration password once you begin altering the defautl configuration. The administration port is port 81. For details on the Netscape administration server see the ns-admin (1M) man page. To administer the Netscape Communications or Commerce Server, issue the following command: netscape http://localhost:81/ then follow the instructions in the ns_httpd or ns_commerce release notes and the Netscape Communications or Commerce Server Administrator's to alter the default configuration of the server. To start the servers you can either use the Netscape administrator server to do this, see ns-admin(1M) for more details, or you can start the servers by hand. To start the Netscape Communications Server invoke the following command /etc/init.d/ns_httpd start To shutdown the Netscape Communications Server invoke the following command /etc/init.d/ns_httpd stop To start the Netscape Commerce Server invoke the following command /etc/init.d/ns_commerce start To shutdown the Netscape Commerce Server invoke the following command /etc/init.d/ns_commerce stop The Netscape Communications Server can be automatically restarted on reboot if it is chkconfig'ed on. Unfortunatly, the Netscape Commerce server can not be automatically restarted on reboot due to the necessity of entering the server's password once the server starts.
