NAME SET_EXPONENT - Sets exponent part of a number SYNOPSIS SET_EXPONENT ([X=]x, [I=]i) IMPLEMENTATION UNICOS, UNICOS/mk, IRIX systems CF90, MIPSpro 7 Fortran 90 STANDARDS Fortran DESCRIPTION The SET_EXPONENT intrinsic function sets the exponent part of a number. It returns the numeric model number whose fractional part is the fractional part of the real number model representation of x and whose exponent part is i. For more information on the real number model, see the MODELS(3I) man page. It accepts the following arguments: x Must be of type real. i Must be of type integer. SET_EXPONENT is an elemental function. The name of this intrinsic cannot be passed as an argument. NOTES This routine is implemented on CRAY T90 systems that support IEEE arithmetic by calls to scalar-only library routines. RETURN VALUES The result type and type parameter are the same as x. i-e The result has the value (x)(b ), where b and e are defined in the model, provided that this result is within range. Argument i should be within the range of MINEXPONENT(x) <= i <= MAXEXPONENT(x). If i is outside this range, the results are unpredictable. If x has value 0, the result has value 0. EXAMPLES SET_EXPONENT(3.0, 1) has the value 1.5. SEE ALSO MODELS(3I) Fortran Language Reference Manual, Volume 2 Intrinsic Procedures Reference Manual for the printed version of this man page.
