RemovableMediaManager - removable media manager
As shipped in IRIX 6.5.7. Unchanged since IRIX 6.5.
NAME RemovableMediaManager - removable media manager SYNOPSIS /usr/sysadm/bin/runcatalog /usr/sysadm/catalogdf/SaRemovableMediaCatalog.cdf DESCRIPTION Managers display information about your system and provide access to interactive guides (also called tasks) that let you administer your system. For example, the User Manager displays a list of the user accounts currently on the system and gives you access to guides like "Add a User Account" and "Modify a User Account." In a Manager window, you can open a guide by choosing its name from the Task menu or by clicking its button at the bottom of the window. The removable media manager gets its information from the system using mediad(1M). GUIDES Guides, also called "tasks," are interactive windows that lead users through the steps necessary to perform various system administration tasks, such as adding new user accounts and configuring networking on the system. A guide typically consists of a series of pages that prompt users to enter information or select options. A user navigates through guide pages using the Prev and Next buttons (or corresponding arrow keys). When the user reaches the last page of a guide and clicks the OK button, the system executes one or more privileged commands to perform the system administration task. These commands are located in /usr/sysadm/privcmd. See runpriv(1M) for more information about privileged commands. Many of the guides require that a user either know the root password or be assigned the necessary privileges (using the PrivilegeManager(1)) in order to perform the task. Format Removable Media This guide lets you initialize media in a removable media device. The privilege needed for this task is: o Format Removable Media (formatRMedia(1M)). Share Removable Media This guide lets you specify a removable media device to be shared using mediad(1M). The privilege needed for this task is: o Share Removable Media (shareRemovableMedia(1M)). Stop Sharing Removable Media This guide lets you stop sharing a removable media device. The privilege needed for this task is: o Stop Sharing Removable Media (unshareRemovableMedia(1M)). Monitor Removable Media Device This guide lets you tell mediad to start monitoring a removable media device. The privilege needed for this task is: o Monitor Removable Media (monitorRemovableMedia(1M)). Stop Monitoring Removable Media This guide lets you tell mediad to stop monitoring a removable media device. The privilege needed for this task is: o Stop Monitoring Removable Media (unmonitorRemovableMedia(1M)). Back Up Files This task lets you perform or schedule a backup of files on your workstation. If you schedule a backup, you may schedule it for a single time in the future, or you may schedule a recurring backup on a daily or weekly basis. Restore Files From a Backup This task lets you restore files on your workstation from a previous backup. The backup can be on a disk file or a tape.
