NAME EXPONENT - Returns the exponent part of the argument when represented as a numeric model number SYNOPSIS EXPONENT ([X=]x) IMPLEMENTATION UNICOS, UNICOS/mk, IRIX systems CF90, MIPSpro 7 Fortran 90 STANDARDS Fortran DESCRIPTION The EXPONENT intrinsic function returns the exponent part of the argument when represented as a numeric model number. It accepts the following argument: x Must be of type real EXPONENT is an elemental function. The name of this intrinsic cannot be passed as an argument. RETURN VALUES The result type is default integer. The result has a value equal to the exponent, e, of the real number model for the value of x, provided that x is nonzero and e is within the range for default integers. For more information on the real number model, see the MODELS(3I) man page. The result is undefined if the machine upon which the compiler is running cannot represent e in the default integer type. EXPONENT(X) has the value zero if X is zero. EXAMPLES EXPONENT(1.0) has the value 1 and EXPONENT(4.1) has the value 3.
