NAME DATE, JDATE - Returns the current date SYNOPSIS DATE() JDATE() STANDARDS Fortran extension DESCRIPTION DATE and JDATE return the current date. DATE returns the current date in ASCII mm/dd/yy format. JDATE returns the current Julian day-number facsimile in ASCII yyddd format, left-justified and blank-filled. If called as intrinsic functions, DATE and JDATE do not accept any arguments. The names of these intrinsics cannot be passed as arguments. RETURN VALUES When called as an intrinsic function, the data type of the return value depends on your platform. On UNICOS and UNICOS/mk systems, it is of type Boolean. On IRIX systems, it is of type CHARACTER*8. NOTES The DATE and JDATE intrinsic functions are outmoded. Refer to the MIPSpro Fortran Language Reference Manual, Volume 3, for information on outmoded features and their preferred standard alternatives. For both DATE and JDATE, the year will become 0 in the year 2000.
