dlerror(3c)
dlerror - Gets diagnostic information
As shipped in IRIX 6.5.30. Last changed in IRIX 6.5.19.
NAME dlerror - Gets diagnostic information SYNOPSIS cc [flag ...] file ... -lc [library ...] #include <dlfcn.h> char *dlerror(void); DESCRIPTION dlerror returns a null-terminated character string (with no trailing newline) that describes the last error that occurred during dynamic linking processing. If no dynamic linking errors have occurred since the last invocation of dlerror, dlerror returns NULL. Thus, invoking dlerror a second time, immediately following a prior invocation, results in NULL being returned. NOTES The messages returned by dlerror might reside in a static buffer that is overwritten on each call to dlerror. Application code should not write to this buffer. To preserve an error message, a program should make its own copy of that message. The string to which the return value points must not be freed by the free(3) command. The dlerror string space is not thread-safe (whether sproc(2) threads with shared data, or POSIX-pthreads, or some other shared-data thread code). Multiple threads doing dynamic linking calls can step on each other's dlerror strings. SEE ALSO dlerror(3), dlopen(3), sgidladd(3), sgidlopen_version(3), dlsym(3)
