NAME
     a.out - Output of assembler and link editor

DESCRIPTION
     Available on the o32 ABI only.

     a.out is the default output file name of the link editor ld(1) and
     assembler as(1).  It is often used as a generic term referring to the
     file format of executables, shared objects, and object files.

     MIPS ELF is the file format used on IRIX 5 and later systems.  More
     detailed information on this file format is available on elf(4) man
     page.
