deskjetII - driver for HP DeskJet InkJet printers
As shipped in IRIX 6.5.22. Unchanged since IRIX 6.5.
NAME deskjetII - driver for HP DeskJet InkJet printers SYNOPSIS deskjetII [-P printername] [-s] [-X Xresolution] [-Y Yresolution] [-S papersize] [-o mediatype] [-j printquality] [-m] [-D] [-B buffersize] [-h] [-Ffileformat] [inputfile] DESCRIPTION deskjetII is a System V printer driver for HP DeskJet color inkjet printers. deskjetII reads STIFF format image files, writes PCL commands to standard output, and uses libpod(3) functions to keep the printer object database (POD) current. The PCL commands generated vary based on the command line options passed to the driver. PJL commands are also used for those printers that support PJL (1200C and 1600C). The output from the deskjetII driver is typically piped to the phandler(1) driver or the nethandler(1) driver for delivery to the printer. This is done in the deskjetII_model file found in /var/spool/lp/model. The deskjetII driver opens and updates the POD files for the specified printer. The file <printername>.config contains the detailed information on the printer's capabilities, <printername>.status contains the information on operational status of the printer, and <printername>.log contains the information on print job history. For more information on printer database files refer to the libpod(3) man page. USAGE -P printername Required: Specifies the printer name, as installed under the SGI spooler, and as visible in the printer manager. -s Specifies that the driver should exit after ascertaining printer status and updating the POD status file. -X X resolution Specify the X resolution. Valid values are "300" or "600". Default is 300. -Y Y resolution Specify the Y resolution. Valid values are "300" or "600". Default is 300. -S papersize Specify the paper size. The default page size is A. The paper sizes supported vary by printer model. -o mediatype Specifies the media type loaded in the printer paper tray. Valid media type names are: "plain", "special", "glossy, or "transparency". -j printquality Specifies the print quality. Valid values are: "economode", "normal" and "presentation". -m Manual feed. If the printer supports manual feed this option will cause it to pause and wait for the paper to be manually loaded. -B buffersize Size of buffer to use to read and write data. Specified in bytes. -D Turns on debugging information. Four levels of debugging information are supported: none, coarse detail, medium detail, and fine detail. These correspond to 0, 1, 2, and 3 or more -D switches given on the command line. That is, multiple -D options given on the command line result in progressively more detailed debugging information. -h Prints a usage message. -F FileFormat Format of file to print. Currently, FileFormat can only be set to "pcl" (other names are ignored). If "pcl" is specified the input stream is assumed to already be formatted for the printer and is sent to the printer unaltered. [inputfile] Specify the name of the file to be printed. If inputfile is not specified, then the driver reads the input from its standard input. SEE ALSO impressario(1), nethandler(1), phandler(1), printstatus(1), printpanel(1), printers(1), libpod(3).
