M_DATA Data message. M_PROTO Protocol control message. M_BREAK Control message used to generate a line break. M_SIG Control message used to send a signal to processes. M_DELAY Control message used to generate a real-time delay. M_CTL Control message used between neighboring modules and drivers. M_IOCTL Control message used to indicate a user ioctl(2) request. M_SETOPTS Control message used to set stream head options. M_IOCACK High priority control message used to indicate success of an ioctl request. M_IOCNAK High priority control message used to indicate failure of an ioctl request. M_PCPROTO High priority protocol control message. M_PCSIG High priority control message used to send a signal to processes. M_READ High priority control message used to indicate the occurrence of a read(2) when there are no data on the stream head read queue. M_FLUSH High priority control message used to indicate that queues should be flushed. M_STOP High priority control message used to indicate that output should be stopped immediately.
