     NAME
cidfontview - Display PostScript CID font viewer

     DESCRIPTION
cidfontview allows the user to view text examples of the
available CID resources like CID fonts and CID maps on a
given X server. If the X server specified does not support
the Display PostScript extension, a message is printed and
          the program exits.

As cidfontview starts up, it displays a font selection
panel, an area to display font samples, and a panel to
select text demos. Select a CID font and CMap combination
by choosing a CID font, CID cmap and a size in the cid font
          selection panel.

Four demos have been provided with cidfontview. The demos
are Sample of 300 Characters, Text Wheel, Slanted Text, and
Fountain. All the above demos require users to enter a
starting CID code. The demos will display a series of CID
characters starting from the input CID code. The preview
button on the CID font panel creates a PS document that
display every characters in the selected CID font and CID
map combination. There are two numbers displayed with each
character. The top number is the CID code (from the selected
CID font) in integer and the bottom number is the CID
mapping (from the selected cmap) in hex. showps is used to
          display the PS document.

     DIAGNOSTICS
Specifying the -debug option opens up a text context on
stdout. All PostScript language code sent to the Display
PostScript extension will be displayed on the screen.

     BUGS
The preview option on the CID font panel doesn't work with
CID maps with encoding that's longer than 2 hex bytes.
